Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health Launched

Wyndham and Brimbank and women will have better access to sexual and reproductive health care, following the opening of new health centres.

IPC Health opened its sexual and reproductive health centre at its Deer Park and Wyndham Vale campuses on July 1.

The hub offers more services for people who identify as women, people with a cervix and young people aged 12 to 25.

The centre was funded by the Victorian Department of Health.

IPC Health said its female youth and women’s nurses would work with clients to provide integrated health and wellbeing care and could also link them to other services such as GPs, allied health and mental health and wellbeing.

Nurses could also provide respectful, confidential and culturally safe spaces for education and services on topics such as sexual health and wellbeing, contraception, pregnancy choices, preventative health checks, menopause advice, continence and wellbeing support, women’s health issues and polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis and pelvic health, IPC Health said.

Sofi Milenkovski, senior clinical operations manager at IPC Health, said the funding means people who identify as women, people with a cervix and young people in Melbourne’s west now have more options to access essential care and support.

“IPC Health has had deep roots in western and outer western Melbourne for 50 years. During that time, we have seen demographics shift and change and have been able to deliver essential services to our diverse communities, regardless of their socio-economic or cultural background,” she said.

“With this additional funding, IPC Health has been able to develop a skilled interdisciplinary workforce aligned with the hub to ensure our clients across all of our campuses receive early access to essential services.”
