Man found dead in New Albany home; Woman charged with murder

Police were conducting a wellness check at a home on Tuesday evening when the body of a 68-year-old man was found on the floor.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Police are investigating after a man’s body was found Tuesday night in a southern Indiana home.

Around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of a woman in distress in the Walmart parking lot, according to Indiana State Police Sergeant Carey Huls.

Investigators determined a wellness check was needed for the residents of a home on East 11th Street in New Albany.

Inside the home, New Albany officers found a 68-year-old man dead on the floor with signs of head trauma, Sgt. Huls said.

The woman from the original call who was taken to the hospital was arrested and taken to the Floyd County Jail. She has been charged with murder.

Police did not say Wednesday morning how the woman is related to the victim. The case is being investigated by both the New Albany Police Department and the Indiana State Police.
