Nir and Noa Baranes are two people killed in the Golan Heights

Noa and Nir Baranes have been named as the couple killed in a Hezbollah rocket attack on the Golan Heights on Tuesday, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

They were both 46 years old and left behind three children.

Regional council mourns loss

The Golan Regional Council, where the couple lived and where Kibbutz Ortal is located, issued a statement saying: “A heavy burden has fallen on Kibbutz Ortal. Noa and Nir Barnes, members of the kibbutz, were killed as a result of a direct hit to their vehicle. Noa and Nir, 46, (were) central and beloved members of Ortal.

“They came to Ortal in 2012. Nir managed the poultry division and previously the tourism and culture division. Noa was the secretary of the plantation division. The couple has three children, aged 13, 16 and 18,” the statement concluded.

Both were killed by a direct hit on their vehicle following intense rocket fire by Hezbollah towards the Golan Heights.
