Human finger in ice cream: FSSAI suspends license, orders closure of Pune’s Fortune dairy – India News

Days after the discovery of “human flesh” in a toffee cone, India’s Food Safety and Standards Authority suspended the license of Fortune Dairy Industries, a third-party ice cream maker. The action was taken after a Mumbai resident lodged a complaint with the police about inserting a human finger into an ice cream cone. FSSAI conducted the inspection.

It first ordered closure and then suspended the license of the plant operating in Pune’s Loni Kalbhor area of ​​Indapur. Last week, Dr. Brandon Ferrao filed a complaint at the Malad Police Station. He discovered something with a “chewing gum” texture in the toffee cone that he ordered from Zepto.

A police case has been filed against Yummo Ice Cream Company under Sections 272, 273 and 336 of the IPC. Later, the parent company of Walko QSR Company Pvt Ltd released a statement which said, “We, Walko QSR Company Private Limited, hereby confirm and declare that Lot No. 107E24 for Alphonso Mango Cone (110 ml) and Lot No. I11E24 for Butterscotch Cone (110 ml) are manufactured by Fortune Dairy Industries Private Limited at its plant located at Plot No. C-55, MIDC Indapur, Maharashtra, Pune-413106.

Last week on Friday, FSSAI officials inspected the factory of an independent manufacturer, which is located in the industrial cluster in Pune. Fortune Dairy, working in Loni Deokar area of ​​Indapur Taluka, was reportedly supplying ice cream across India. Mumbai Police is also investigating the entire supply chain.
