At least 11 terrorists involved in the martyrdom of seven soldiers were killed during an intelligence operation in Lakki Marwat district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Tuesday.

In a statement, the military’s media wing said the IBO was carried out in response to the recent improvised explosive device (IED) explosion that killed seven brave soldiers to bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to justice.

Among the martyrs were Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas and Subedar Major Muhammad Nazir.

During the operation, own troops successfully attacked the terrorists’ location, resulting in the neutralization of eleven terrorists and the destruction of many terrorist hideouts.

It said a decontamination operation was being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area as security forces are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.

Last month, security forces conducted a series of intelligence-led operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province on May 26-27 and neutralized 23 terrorists.

On May 26, an IBO was carried out in the Hassan Khel area of ​​Peshawar district, where security forces shot dead six terrorists and busted many hideouts.

On May 27, in another operation carried out in Tank district, 10 terrorists were killed after troops successfully entered the terrorists’ place.

The third clash took place in the Bagh area of ​​Khyber District in which security forces killed seven terrorists and injured two terrorists.

A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the dead terrorists who were still actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces as well as innocent civilians, ISPR said.
