A SANDF soldier convicted of rape and attempted murder for intentionally infecting a girl with HIV

A SA National Defense Force (SANDF) soldier has been found guilty of raping and intentionally infecting his girlfriend with HIV.

On Tuesday, Leon Santos Conga appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court, where he was found guilty of rape and attempted murder.

The court found that Conga had successfully raped his then-girlfriend under false pretenses because he had not disclosed his HIV status to her.
