The Jay shooting is under investigation

JAY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York State Police are investigating a shooting where suspects fired at a vehicle in the town of Jay. No arrests have been made at this time.

According to State Police, on Monday at approximately 5:23 p.m., officers received a report of two suspicious men walking around the area with long guns. At approximately 6:29 p.m., police received reports of suspects shooting at a car to the City of Jay.

Police say the suspects fled into a nearby forest. Police cordoned off the area and deployed drones, K9s, SORTs and Tri-County SRTs to search the area.

Police say this incident is not considered a shooting situation and the suspects may have had weapons. Don’t approach them. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call New York State Police at (518) 873-2750.
