Tom Eustace was in Rome with his girlfriend attending a friend’s wedding when a tragic accident occurred.

With life-threatening injuries, a Carlow man is now “fighting for his life”. To help with medical costs, his family and girlfriend Miriam set up a GoFundMe campaign.

“I’m contacting you all on behalf of Tom Eustace, who means the world to me. My amazing boy is now facing unexpected challenges after an extremely serious accident in Italy, so we have created a GoFundMe campaign to help with the costs,” Miriam said on social media.

“If you are able, please consider making a donation to support him during this difficult time. Every little bit helps and your support means more than words can express. If you are unable to donate, please share with your entire network and pray for his full recovery. He is fighting for his life,” she added.

The young man has a “long road to recovery” ahead of him.

“Tom is an amazing person who always supports his friends and family. Now he needs our help more than ever. The road to recovery will be long and demanding, both physically and financially. Medical costs, rehabilitation costs and travel costs to bring him back to Ireland are just some of the challenges we face,” the family said on GoFundMe.

The family also thanked everyone who sent them words of support.

“The outpouring of support, messages and calls has been a huge source of strength for Tom’s family and girlfriend. We are deeply grateful for every gesture of kindness and support during this difficult time,” they added.
