A man goes on trial accused of murdering a “beloved mum” in Broxburn

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman at a property in West Lothian.

Police were called to a disturbance at a property on Cunnighar Road, Broxburn, at around 7.55pm on Sunday.

Chitsidzo (Veronica) Obajanga from Zimbabwe was taken to Edinburgh Royal Hospital where she later died.

Kasikai Obajanga has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of the 42-year-old.

He appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court on Tuesday charged with murder.

The 46-year-old did not provide any explanation and was temporarily arrested.

He is scheduled to appear in court again in the next eight days.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Ms Obajanga’ said: ‘Veronica was a much-loved mum, sister, niece and mother to all, who will be greatly missed by many.

“We would ask for privacy so that we can come to terms with our loss at this time.”
