An investigation was launched after a woman fell overboard from the Calmac ferry

She was rescued by ferry staff and brought back on board, and was taken to hospital once they reached the mainland to undergo tests, but there is no further information on her condition after this event.

An internal investigation into the circumstances of the incident has already been initiated.

Calmac’s director of fleet management, Craig Ramsay, said: “As the Isle of Arran approached Ardrossan on the evening of Monday, June 10, a passenger entered the water and was quickly recovered by the ship’s rescue boat, in accordance with emergency procedures regularly followed by the crew.

“There will now be an investigation into the circumstances, in line with our protocol regarding this situation.

“I would like to thank all colleagues and the emergency services for their quick response.”
