Police have identified a Sandston man who died while walking on I-95

Police said officers responded to I-95 South exit 84A around 1:14 a.m. Sunday for a report of a crash. At the scene, police determined that Matthew Aaron Vilanova, 35, of Sandston, was riding a motorcycle when he left the highway and entered the lanes.

Police said the driver of a 2018 Chevrolet Spark hit Vilanova, then veered off the road to the left and hit a tree. Vilanova was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police did not provide details about the condition of the Spark’s driver.

The incident remains under investigation.
