Orlando man accused of crashing into a police car while driving under the influence in Polk County

DAVENPORT, FL. – An Orlando man was arrested Tuesday morning after colliding with a police car while driving under the influence, according to the Davenport Police Department.

According to a news release, 21-year-old Jose Enrique Hernandez-Gonazalez was driving a pickup truck in the wrong lane on South Boulevard in Davenport around 1:35 a.m. when he struck a Davenport police cruiser and drove off.

Polk County deputies later located and arrested Hernandez-Gonazalez.

According to investigators, Hernandez-Gonazalez told police he hit “something hard” but didn’t stop because he wasn’t aware of what he hit. According to the police, he also admitted to the officers that he had been drinking during the family party.

Hernandez-Gonazalez will be charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in property damage and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
