‘Cross case against BJP workers in connection with Boliyar stabbing incident filed on demand of Congress leaders’

‘Cross case against BJP workers in connection with Boliyar stabbing incident filed on demand of Congress leaders’

Demanding a comprehensive probe into the stabbing of two BJP workers in Boliyar on Sunday evening, the saffron party on Tuesday alleged that the Konaje police had filed a counter-case against five BJP workers at the behest of Congress leaders.

They alleged that the cross-complaint was about shouts of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ while the BJP workers were returning after celebrating ‘vijayotsava’ on the occasion of the NDA government’s return to power.

Addressing reporters, Captain Brijesh Chowta, Dakshina Kannada MP, and Satish Kumpala, president of the BJP’s Dakshina Kannada unit, said the counterclaim was filed on Monday only after the visit of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.

They alleged that since the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government came to power, the government has been pursuing “anti-Hindu” policies. The government tried to lower the morale of the BJP workers by filing false cases against them.

Captain Chowta said the stabbing incident had raised questions about how the group that attacked the BJP workers obtained the daggers and whether the attack was pre-planned. “Who motivated the group to attack BJP workers returning after celebrating the ‘Vijayotsava’ of the NDA government returning to power?” he asked.

He said the counterclaim against the BJP workers was filed only after deliberation on Monday. “The government should stop the rise of jihadist forces,” he said.

Demanding that the case be withdrawn, Mr. Kumpala said that the police had withdrawn the case filed against a group of people who had recently offered ‘namaz’ on a public road in Kankanady, Mangaluru, by filing Report B. This was done in a hurry, a day after the case was reported Suo moto. “If the police can withdraw the case over the ‘namaz’ incident, why not for shouting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ by the BJP workers,” Mr. Kumpala asked.

He said Mr. Rao visited KS Hegde Hospital in Deralakatte on Monday due to a function. The BJP workers injured in the stabbing are being treated at the same hospital. “But the minister did not have the courtesy to visit them,” he said, adding that Mangaluru MLA and Assembly Speaker UT Khader also did not visit the injured workers.

Kumpala said Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashok will visit the injured on Wednesday.
