Deniz Öncü underwent hand surgery after a training incident

The season break did not go as planned for Deniz Öncü. Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Moto2 rider injured his left hand during training last week and had to undergo surgery.

The incident took place on Friday in Turkey. The Turkish cyclist suffered a broken left arm and wrist and was operated on by Dr. Özcan Koçanlı at Antalya Lara Anatolia Hospital.

Red Bull KTM Ajo statement confirmed:intra-articular fracture of the distal end of the left radius with comminution and left scaphoid‘, and Öncü was released on Tuesday.

Now Öncü is facing a period of recovery after surgery. It has not been revealed whether he will be able to take part in the next round of the championship, the Dutch GP, on June 28-30. For now, the cyclist has two weeks to recover.
