Surgery on a man who was attacked at Exeter Chiefs Stadium

Police say a man underwent surgery for “multiple fractures” to his leg after an incident on a rugby pitch in Devon.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the alleged assault on April 20 began after two men engaged in a “discussion” at Exeter Chiefs’ Sandy Park.

One of the men “pushed the other back, causing him to fall to the ground,” and then allegedly “stopped on his ankle several times, resulting in multiple leg and ankle fractures,” police said.

The injured man was taken to hospital and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, before being released on police bail, they added.
