During the SWAT incident, a man allegedly attacked officers with knives

During a standoff in Harrison Township on Tuesday, a man armed with multiple knives ran toward officers. Authorities were attempting to execute an involuntary commitment warrant at a home on Linden Street around 1:30 a.m. when they were confronted by a 47-year-old man. The man, who allegedly had a knife at the time, barricaded himself in the house. Negotiators with the Allegheny County Police Department were called in to assist the Harrison Township Police Department. According to authorities, during negotiations, officers encountered a man with multiple knives inside the home. After the encounter, the man allegedly retreated to the bedroom and a SWAT team was called. Further negotiations were undertaken before SWAT placed an irritant in the home, causing the man to come outside. Authorities say he then ran towards them with knives. Authorities say they used bean bags and a stun gun to ultimately arrest the man. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and will be charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
