Shooting in Atlanta: 4 people dead, including the suspect, says the mayor

NEW DELHI: Four people were shot, including the alleged suspect, in the food court of a downtown Atlanta office complex, said Mayor Andre Dickens, who said the building was now on lockdown.

“Four people were shot. One of them is the alleged original shooter who was shot. Everyone involved in the shooting is still alive. AFRD is on scene providing assistance along with APD. Please avoid this area,” Mayor Andre Dickens said.

Sharing updates of the event on X, formerly known as Twitter, Atlanta police said all four victims were “conscious, alert and breathing” and one of them is believed to be the suspect responsible for the shooting.

“APD, AFRD and other law enforcement personnel remain actively working on the scene. We will notify again when the scene is clear,” Atlanta police added in a series of tweets.

Peachtree Center, located in the heart of Atlanta, is a sprawling complex that includes “1.5 million square feet” of office space across four buildings. It also has a number of amenities, including 50 restaurants, retail stores and three hotels, as described on the official website.
