North Carolina man accused of fondling and giving alcohol to boy at Ocean Lakes campground, report says

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – A North Carolina man is accused of fondling an intoxicated minor in 2023 at Ocean Lakes Campground in Horry County, according to documents obtained by News13.

Maxwell Fletcher, 30, of Lincolnton, North Carolina, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree assault and battery. He was booked into the Detention Center, according to online booking records. J. Rueben Long and released on $7,500 bail.


A police report shows Horry County police learned of the alleged assault on May 23. The arrest warrant states that the incident occurred between the evening of April 10, 2023 and the morning of the following day.

The warrant says Fletcher allegedly gave the minor an “excessive amount of alcohol” before the assault, which left the victim “in a state where she was unable to contain” his advances. No additional information was immediately available.
