A homeless man is accused of robbery and assault on Route 222 in Lancaster County. West Earl Township police said the victim told them he was driving when 57-year-old Michael Ermold Jr. he grabbed her purse because he wanted money for beer. She reached out and walked over to the woman and they both struggled for the purse. Ermold allegedly punched her in the arm and face to get her to let go. Police say he stole cash from her purse and then fled. He was arrested while trying to cross the median of the highway. Ermold is charged with robbery, theft, simple assault and harassment. Court records show he is being held in the Lancaster County Jail.

A homeless man is accused of robbery and assault on Route 222 in Lancaster County.

West Earl Township police said the victim told them he was driving when 57-year-old Michael Ermold Jr. he grabbed her purse because he wanted money for beer.

She pulled over to the side of the road and they both fought for her purse.

Ermold allegedly punched her in the arm and face to get her to let go.

According to police, he stole money from the purse and then fled.

He was stopped while trying to cross the median of the highway.

Ermold is charged with robbery, theft, simple assault and harassment.

Court records show he is being held in the Lancaster County Jail.
