Police say a Laurinburg pastor accused of embezzling his church’s funds

LAURINBURG, N.C. (WBTW) – A Laurinburg pastor has been charged with embezzlement of funds after an investigation found he was taking money from his church, police said.

On Monday, Clyde David Haywood, 38, of Laurinburg, was arrested at his home by police for embezzlement. Police said Haywood is the pastor of Radical Praise Ministries.

Police said an investigation into Haywood was launched in March after reports of suspicious bank card transactions by Radical Praise Ministries via Cash App.

After several financial search warrants, bank records, video evidence and interviews, arrest warrants were obtained for Haywood.

He was booked into the Scotland County Detention Center on $4,000 bail, police said.
