Police said a man faces murder charges in connection with the death of a man who was found with serious injuries in a park.

Greater Manchester Police said on September 12, 2022, Headley Thomas, known as Barry, was the victim of a “horrific” attack at Penn Park, Old Trafford.

The 51-year-old died as a result of his injuries on October 2.

Police said Joshua Carroll, 29, of no fixed abode, was charged with murder and was due to appear later in court in Manchester.

Paying tribute at the time of his death, Thomas’s family said he was a “caring, funny, loyal and caring man with a big heart”.

They added that their world was “changed forever” and he will be “forever loved by his family, children and friends.”
