MIDDLESEX BOROUGH — An investigation has been launched into the death of a Middlesex County metal fabrication factory worker.

An employee was killed Tuesday morning at Diamond Brite Metals, according to Middlesex Borough police.

A 9-1-1 caller reported a forklift accident around 7:15 a.m. at an industrial building on Cedar Avenue. Officers who arrived at the scene shortly thereafter found the employee unresponsive.

The employee was identified as Jimmy Fernando Parrales Mora, 46, of North Plainfield.

A police investigation found that Parrales Mora died when a metal beam fell and hit him while he was working. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Occupational Health and Safety Inspectorate also arrived on site and conducted its own investigation.

“OSHA is conducting an investigation and has up to six months to complete the investigation,” said OSHA spokeswoman Joanna Hawkins.

Diamond Brite Metals describes itself on its website as “the most comprehensive metal polishing company” in the country.

At least a third New Jersey worker has died this year

At least two other workers have died in New Jersey this year.

A worker in Kenilworth has died after falling into a large hole while installing a storm sewer. Another worker died at a Lakewood recycling center after he was reportedly crushed against a trash bin.
