Ames police investigate after a gunshot victim arrives at the hospital

Ames police are investigating a shooting after a gunshot victim showed up at a local hospital. Police were notified of a gunshot victim who arrived at Mary Greeley Medical Center shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday. According to police, an investigation determined the shooting likely occurred at 3900 Tripp Street in west Ames. Police did not identify the victim or suspect. Authorities said the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains ongoing. A Boone man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting last year on the same street.
