Man from Caroline Co. convicted of sexual abuse of a minor

RIDGELY, Md. – A Ridgely man has been sentenced to three decades in prison for sexually abusing a minor.

We’re told the investigation began in May 2023 and was a joint effort between the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, the Caroline County Department of Social Services, the Caroline County Children’s Advocacy Center and the Caroline County State’s Attorney’s Office.

As a result of the investigation, David Whetstone was arrested on August 14, 2023 on a list of charges including rape in the second degree, sexual solicitation of a minor, sexual abuse of a minor, sex offense in the third and fourth degrees, and assault in the second degree. .

Whetstone entered a plea deal with Alford in February 2024 to one count of sexual abuse of a minor, and this week he was sentenced to a maximum of 30 years behind bars. The judge also ordered him to register as a Level 3 sex offender and undergo lifetime sex offender supervision, including orders for GPS monitoring, polygraphs and no contact with minor children.
