The cause of Monday’s bus accident in Dindigul was driver error: TNSTC

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation in Dindigul said on Tuesday that the accident involving a TNSTC bus that ran through a shop in Dindigul on Monday was due to human error.

In a statement, the CEO said the bus left Periyakulam on Monday morning and reached Dindiugl via Karur. During the 210-kilometer journey, the bus did not encounter any technical problems. When the bus resumed its journey towards Theni at 1:45 p.m., the driver failed to follow road safety rules.

Instead of driving slowly when leaving the bus stop, he accelerated and drove straight into the store without properly turning his vehicle onto the road. The bus had been in service the previous day without any maintenance issues.

Stating that the bus driver’s negligent behavior led to the accident, the statement said departmental action has been initiated against him.
