One person is dead after a small plane crashes at a remote Yukon airport

The Yukon Coroner’s Office is investigating a death linked to the crash of a small plane at Haines Junction Airport.

In an email to The Canadian Press, the coroner’s office says the accident occurred Monday afternoon.

The Transportation Safety Board says investigators have been dispatched to the crash site, located 95 miles (155 kilometers) west of the territorial capital of Whitehorse.

TSB says a Cessna U206G aircraft operated by Rocking Star Adventures Ltd was involved in the crash.

According to the company’s website, Rocking Star Adventures offers charter service out of Haines Junction and runs aerial tours of the ice fields of Kluane National Park.

It is not yet known how many people were on board the plane and whether anyone else was injured.
