A Plymouth man charged with sexual assault in a Devon prison

A man will go on trial next year accused of sexually assaulting four guards at a prison in Devon. Christopher Kerruish, 44, of Connaught Avenue, Mutley, appeared at Plymouth Crown Court on June 4, where he pleaded not guilty to nine charges.

He is accused of exposing his genitals in prison between July 31, 2021 and September 1, 2021.

He also faces eight counts of sexual assault by touching between April 1, 2021 and August 27, 2021. It is alleged that all the offenses allegedly occurred at the same prison. For legal reasons, the victims cannot be identified.

Kerruish initially appeared at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on April 30, after which the case was adjourned for a hearing at Plymouth Crown Court on June 4. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and the case will be heard at the Crown Court on September 20 for further case management interviews.

The trial – estimated to last five days at this stage – is scheduled to start on March 3, 2025, at Plymouth Crown Court.
