Brandon police arrest 21 men in connection with sexual abuse investigation

Brandon police have arrested 21 men in connection with a sexual abuse investigation.

In a news release Tuesday, Brandon police said a joint investigation with the RCMP and Winnipeg police began in the first week of June, looking into incidents of sexual abuse on the streets and online.

The investigation was called Project Lockout.

Within two days, police arrested 21 men on charges of using sexual services for payment or communicating for that purpose.

Police said the arrests were made in downtown Brandon and hotels in the city.

Vehicles were also seized in nine arrests.

All arrested men were released on recognizance. The allegations have not been tested in court.
