A man will stand trial accused of serious sexual offenses, Dewsbury

A man will appear before a judge after being charged in connection with a serious sex offense in Dewsbury.

Amanat Ali Tariq (42), of Wellington Road East, Dewsbury, will appear before the morning session of Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 12, on charges of rape and other offences.

These include two crimes of attempted rape and assault under Art. 18, two offenses of fraud and theft.

The 42-year-old was remanded in custody to appear in court after being arrested and charged in connection with the serious sexual assault of a woman which occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 9.

The victim continues to be supported by specially trained officers and the Homicide and Serious Investigation Team continues to investigate the incident.
