The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs opens an investigation into the attack on a civic activist

The Georgian Ministry of Interior told local media on Tuesday that it had launched an investigation after a group of people physically assaulted Zuka Berdzenishvili, a member of the Shame civil movement, earlier today.

Berdzenishvili said on social media that he was attacked near his home and added that he was trying to obtain surveillance footage from nearby cameras to identify the attackers.

The activist was taken to a clinic in the capital, Tbilisi, for medical examinations and a nose job.

The ministry announced that an investigation had been launched on suspicion of “group violence.”
