Guyana: Teacher accused of marijuana possession denied bail

A Guyanese teacher allegedly involved in a significant drug discovery has been remanded in custody after a vigilance court yesterday denied bail.

Sharon McCurdy, a 49-year-old from Bachelor’s Adventure on the East Coast of Demerara, was arrested on June 6 and charged with possession of 31.4 pounds of cannabis.

She appeared before Her Admirer Fabayo Azore, the accused pleaded not guilty. Despite the allegations, bail was refused and the case was adjourned to July 3 for further proceedings.
