How many numbers do you need to win?

If you have two numbers or one number and two lucky stars or better, you are a winner. Players must match all five main numbers and two lucky numbers to claim the jackpot. The Thunderball draw also took place tonight and the results will also be displayed below. The Thunderball draw takes place at 8:00 p.m. and the Euromillions draw takes place at approximately 8:15 p.m.

In May 2022, Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester became the UK’s biggest ever Euromillions lottery winners, winning £184 million thanks to their lucky ticket. Their record did not stand for long, however, after another winner from the UK came forward in July 2022 and took home the jackpot of £195 million. However, they were not made public. Before the Thwaites’ victory, the previous record was held by an anonymous winner who took home £170 million in October 2019. On June 4, 2021, a UK ticket holder scooped the £111 million jackpot in the Friday evening draw, matching all seven numbers to become the country’s ninth-biggest lottery winner at this stage.

In June 2019, a single ticket holder in the UK won £123 million in the Tuesday Euromillions draw. It was the third biggest Euromillions lottery win in the UK since the draw began in 2004. This meant they instantly became as rich as Fifty Shades of Gray author EL James (£127m) and Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page (£125m).

But they are not the biggest Euromillions winners. That title goes to Colin and Chris Weir from North Ayrshire, Scotland, who won £161 million in 2011, making them the current record holders for the biggest lottery win in UK history. After winning the lottery, they made a donation of £1 million to the Scottish National Party. Sadly, Mr Weir passed away in December 2019 at the age of 71.

In 2012, Adrian and Gillian Bayford from Suffolk won over £148 million. They broke up after winning the Euromillions jackpot. Euromillions is played in nine European countries.
