A 70-year-old man arrested in UP for raping a minor girl

Sultanpur: Police said a 70-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday on charges of raping a minor girl in a village.

According to the complaint filed by the girl’s mother, the accused kidnapped the 15-year-old and took her to a cottage near the village.

The girl screamed for help as the man forced himself on her, prompting nearby people to rush to the cottage and grab him, the complainant added.

She added that the accused were later handed over to the police by these people.

Station house officer (SHO) Baldirai RB Suman said the girl was sent for medical examination.

He added that based on the complaint filed by the girl’s mother, a case was registered against the accused under section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the POCSO Act.
