A Tennessee mother and father are mourning the loss of their newborn son after their family dog attacked the baby while he slept.

Mark Mansoor and Chloe Mansoor of Knoxville, Tennessee, spoke to local media this week to share their story about little Ezra and warn others about the risks of leaving children alone with animals.

“You just think it will never happen to you. But it can happen to anyone, regardless of how long you’ve had your dog,” Chloe told WBIR.

The family had two dogs at home, but they claim the husky attacked them without warning while the baby was sleeping in his crib. The first parents had the dog for eight years and said it had never shown any signs of aggression before.

Chloe continued: “All the sleepless nights and dirty nappies – looking back, I would take a million sleepless nights, dirty nappies and all that mess and take it all back in a second and never take any moment or second for granted. “

Describing the attack as “unprovoked”, she warned that “it could be any dog at any time… regardless of the history.”
