Family says a 6-week-old baby boy has died after being attacked by the family dog ​​in his crib

A Tennessee mother and father are mourning the loss of their newborn son after their family dog ​​attacked the baby while he slept.

Mark Mansoor and Chloe Mansoor of Knoxville, Tennessee, spoke to local media this week to share their story about little Ezra and warn others about the risks of leaving children alone with animals.

“You just think it will never happen to you. But it can happen to anyone, regardless of how long you’ve had your dog,” Chloe told WBIR.

The family had two dogs at home, but they claim the husky attacked them without warning while the baby was sleeping in his crib. The first parents had the dog for eight years and said it had never shown any signs of aggression before.

“Ezra meant everything. There are really no other words than just absolutely everything.”

On Thursday, May 30, a 6-week-old boy was pronounced dead.

“I didn’t realize until this happened how much support we had and how many people already loved him,” she said. “Ezra just slept in his bed – he didn’t cry or anything. And she just attacked out of nowhere.”

Chloe continued: “All the sleepless nights and dirty nappies – looking back, I would take a million sleepless nights, dirty nappies and all that mess and take it all back in a second and never take any moment or second for granted. “

The family said Ezra’s organs would be donated.

“Being his mom was the greatest honor and the best thing I’ve ever done,” Chloe told ABC 7.

Describing the attack as “unprovoked”, she warned that “it could be any dog ​​at any time… regardless of the history.”

The grieving mother added that she treasured every moment spent with her son and encouraged others to do the same.

“Really don’t take anything for granted, even if it’s a moment where you’re annoyed or frustrated. All those little moments are still amazing,” she said.

She also asked for prayers during this difficult time.

“Really pray for the entire family. Everyone loved him very much. I know everyone is grieving right now. We are grieving right now and trying to work through this will be a lifelong process.”

The family husky has already been removed from the home and placed at a local animal shelter.

“Young-Williams Animal Facility is holding an adult dog following an incident that resulted in a reported injury to an infant in Knoxville on May 24, 2024. The dog is undergoing a 10-day bite quarantine as required by state law,” the statement read. the organization said in a statement.
