Sexual battery incident reported at Disney World, arrest made

A 68-year-old man was extradited to the Orange County Jail for arrest and charged with multiple crimes involving sexual battery that allegedly occurred during numerous vacations at the Walt Disney World Resort. The now adult victim was younger than 12 years old at the time of the abuse.

According to FOX35 OrlandoMichael Geary of Arlington, Virginia, was arrested on a warrant and brought to Central Florida in February. He was charged with multiple crimes, including sexual assault of a child under the age of 12 and lewd or lascivious sexual assault.

The now 32-year-old victim came forward on January 2, 2024, telling the Orange County Sheriff’s Office that Geary had molested her “more times than she could count” between the ages of 10 and 12. She alleged that the attacks occurred on “multiple occasions” at her home in Virginia and during vacations to Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The Central Florida incidents reportedly occurred between 2001 and 2003 at an undisclosed Disney Resort hotel, Disney’s Old Key West Resort and the Hard Rock Hotel Orlando. The victim was between 10 and 12 years old at the time, while Geary was about 47.

Investigators and the victim conducted two recorded phone conversations with Geary, in which he allegedly admitted to doing something he called “cuddling.” He is said to have denied remembering any specific incidents, but confirmed that the victim “was not a liar” and that she was “the only child he had ever contacted or had sexual contact with.”

According to the affidavit, Geary later insisted he did not remember the incidents detailed during the phone call. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is only pursuing charges for specific attacks that occurred in Central Florida, not at the victim’s home in Virginia.

Geary’s will appear in court for arraignment on July 10. His lawyers have not publicly stated how he would plead to the charges. If Geary is found guilty, he could face the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
