FIRST WARNING FORECAST: Severe weather possible on Wednesday

While Tuesday’s rain has been replaced by sunshine across much of the state, severe weather is expected to creep into the forecast Wednesday afternoon.

A weak cold front will move through the state Tuesday afternoon, with a slight chance of rain in the Twin Cities. This front will move back north as a warm front overnight and Wednesday. This will likely produce severe thunderstorms in Minnesota on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

By Wednesday afternoon, storms will be visible in two areas: one in central and northern Minnesota and the other in southwestern Minnesota. Once the storms begin, they can produce large hail, strong winds and isolated tornadoes. This would be from about Redwood Falls to St. Cloud and Alexandria to Brainerd.
